Diary of Bernadette :

the fog at the top of the Lotus Mountain, at Mui wo

antonio says,

reminds him of the beautiful poem by Carducci

while reciting the poem in Italian

walking along the River and the sea

( La nebbia agl'irti colli

piovigginando sale,

e sotto il maestrale

urla e biancheggia

ma per le vie del borgo

dal ribollir de' tini

va l'aspro odor dei vini

l'anime a rallegrar.

Gira su' ceppi accesi

lo spiedo scoppiettando;

sta il cacciator fischiando

su l'uscio a rimirar

Tra le rossastre nubi

stormi d'uccelli neri

com'esuli pensieri,

nel vespero  migrar )

I seem to see all those images of Carducci in my mind:

is he a painter or is he a poet?

His images are so oriental, his suggestions are so Italian

so when I went home

but the modern Chinese characters do not seem to carry the images he had definitely conceived in his mind

so I painted them

later

on my iphone

modern characters turned ancient

meeting the visual minds of the first creators of the ideograms

in order to pay homage to Carducci

as he had believed that somehow

he was Chinese at heart

To all those who love Chinese culture, especially to the Italian friends whom I met in Florence, where I began painting Chinese Calligraphy everyday in abstract forms, I thank you for your patience and your interest in this mutual visual dialogue:are Not All painters born as visually in tune with nature...

thank You Carducci for your inspiration
