Digital Space- a virtual exhibition

Digital Space is about getting my iPhone drawings to become floor paintings and wall paintings

the tiny images drawn with finger delight one when they become blown up images, occupying either the whole kitchen floor or the staircase of our new working living space

when easel paintings became almost obsolete, working on the floor seems to be a new alternative. Now that working on the floor or on the wall is replaced by working digitally, one wonders where the next painting process will go?

the incorporation of my iPhone image onto the blown up printed image is meant to be part of this exhibition: both static and process revealing images seem necessary in order to give the printed image a painterly sense , perhaps a more humane one

Do we then miss the painted process, with paint and hand movement especially when the works are of a larger format?

I waited for half a year living in this working space to answer the questions

and my conclusion:

Digital works need to be shown in process

while I was also happy to go back to some older ways of paintings- hence, the series of Madonnas and tondo paintings

Both ways are inspiring

Both ways compensate each other

Happy painting , digital or not

( P.S. While trying to show the painting process of some digital images, I found several works missing part of the process as if part of the paintings got ' stolen', leaving the completed image without partial trace. Beware of hackers. )

most works were done after we moved in the new space in Mui Wo ( Hong Kong ) in July 2020
