( which includes several still shots by PISAPIA, Antonio)
with permission granted by Art Basel for video/photo reporting
' Masterpieces Art Basel ' is another video I created which somehow compensates Dairy I. It can be viewed at my other site: www.bernadettekamfulee.it
The following are two articles which are meant to accompany the video ( 20/05/2021)

Article 1. Diary : Art Basel HK 2021
questions /reflections
by LEE-PISAPIA, Kam Fu Bernadette
Questions: in search of a lost paradise
Through works of art
Through working in art?
Through old ways of reconciliation
With one’s self?
Such as -Through An intense concentration of reworking
On Chinese calligraphy?
Like master Wong DongLing?
Or
be in the zen spirit of no self
As Master MORITA SHIRYU?
Does emptying of self lead to a rebirth
As in the work of Jaume Plence?
Who is the artist?
The person making the art? The spectators who see their own reflections?
Art is forever contemporary
And does pandemic give an artist an extra space / time to rework to reflect to clean up to renew to reconcile with one’s self and with the others?
Or simply a way of going to the quiet point
Where one sees more
One feels more
One is more intact with oneself?
So Morandi the Master of Quiet
Comes back
To remind us
Of the subtle
Variations
Of life
Of each changes of tones
Of unbelievable juxtaposition of sounds
That combination which we often overlooked
When we were in the noise*
Thank you
Bernadette

*" Morandi is an example of how one can speak in a low voice, without ever repeating oneself, and announce that our capacity to understand the world can be infinite without being impulsive. Our love for things can be intense without being violent..." ( Umberto Eco , Giorgio Morandi- p180-181-, Silvana Editoriale S.p.A 2019- original article ' My Morandi' published in L'Unita' on 05/10/1993)

Article 2.
Fiera d'arte 2021 HK
by PISAPIA Antonio
Mary ha 20 anni: è al suo primo
lavoro di assistente alla mostra
Art Basel 2021 mentre si specchia
in abito lungo rosso e tacchi alti.
Sua madre la guarda e dice:
ma quanto sei bella! Suo padre
che assiste fa: Uhm! E suo fratello
canzona: ma chi credi di essere!
Così mi è apparsa anche la fiera
Art Basel di Hong Kong di questo
anno quasi post pandemia come
ora vi racconto in prima battuta.
Ti aspetti dalla presentazione
artisti giovani o di media età ma
non andare fuori strada che ne troverai
di vecchi anche se freschi di arte.
Come Morandi o Fontana o Pistoletto
nella galleria italiana che meglio
conosco ma poi un ventaglio di galleria
che unite presentano tanti artisti.
Dall’est e dall’ovest tra moderno
e contemporaneo come la Trans
avanguardia o arte povera nate
tra gli anni 60 e 80 in Italia.
Insomma contaminazione in spazio
ricama calligrafico in delicati
acrilici e pastello alla Matisse.
Poi mi lascio attrarre da un complesso
di lucidi specchi a ricordare la complessità
della realtà mentre mi rifletto in un selfie.
La mia amica pittrice mi fa: hai
visto il grande quadro all’ingresso
D 1? Non potevo non vederlo ma altra
cosa è capirlo in relazione al contesto.
E avessi conosciuto il cinese
avrei capito che in calligrafia nero
su bianco in scrittura artistica
c’era una poesia di Tao Qian.
E il minimo è pagare un gelato
alla vaniglia al ristorante vicino
all’ingresso che ci viene servito
con qualche ‘ chiacchiera’.
Che significa parlare un po’ in
libertà senza impegno come
si fa a Yum Cha a Hong Kong
o prendendo un caffè a Napoli.
È tardi ormai e mentre guadagno
l’uscita mi dico: qui bisogna tornare
per le installazioni ma anche per la
bella vista della baia al mattino.
Ora è il tramonto e da Convention
Center vi è una visione senza
pari che abbraccia Tai Mo Shan
Lin Fa Shan e i Peaks di Lantau.
Art Basel Hong Kong , from 19/05/2021 to 23/05/2021
attending Matteo Ricci musical on 28/04/2024 with a letter from Don Italo, which arrived a day before we went to see the beautiful show.
To my surprise, the calligraphy of Don Italo was so similar to that of Father Johnny . It was like Father Johnny was with us to witness once again the light he left behind through his friends on stage.
note: the above page on Matteo Ricci with video I made in 2019 and the text somehow disappeared from my site www.bernadetteleepisapia.it
It was not my intention.
I had asked for permission from Father Johnny for their publication.
kindly contact me for further clarification.
